the whole world

On the front steps of our house, watching the sun go to bed, my son turned to me and said “Daddy? Will you take my picture?” I smiled, and agreed that I would. I took out my telephone (which also has a camera in it) and quickly snapped his picture. We studied the image carefully.

The little boy frowned after looking at the photograph.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“No Daddy…” He said quietly. “I want you to take a picture of the whole world.”

“The whole world?”

“Yes.”

So, I aimed the camera at the sunset and snapped another one. We examined it carefully, and my son said “Yes, Daddy. That’s right.” and then raised his arms up over his head and said “The whole world!” with the happiest smile.
