It’s February. I am ready. The last month or so seems to have passed at a delicate rate. I don’t find myself spinning in my chair with dread, unable to believe that it’s already Black History Month. I’ve worked hard, and slept well, and the month passed and my work came to good results. I’m pleased to be in a position to pay all my bills today. Grateful and calm inside.
My step-father’s birthday is today. He’s a wonderful man who has come to mean more than I can express here. So much more I’m not gonna try. But in the last couple weeks he’s had some trouble with his eye. The surgery didn’t go well either, and now he’s resting at home with more doctors to see, and possibly more surgery. Never trust an optimistic ophthalmologist with a laser.
My son and I are getting ready for a trip to Mexico, one of two this year for me, but the best news is that we’re excited and already filling our evening talks with what to bring, and how we’ll spend out time. The best idea yet, aside from tickling and chasing him around, was to bring the army men and the indians and build sand forts and have a huge battle. My money’s on the Indians, and I’m breaking out the sunscreen for my little man, and the tanning oil for me.
My solo album is coming out in early april on King Street, and this month I delivered a Remix for a great Dr. Beat tune called ‘Meditereaneo,’ a new single of ‘It’s all in my head’ signed to SubLevel and I’ve got another brand new single coming out on King Street as well (looks like ‘I surrender’ remixes,) and I’m still working on my edition of Mix the Vibe for King Street too.
I’ve got bookings every month through september, a residency at Club 5 in DC, and a lot more of that in discussion.
I opened up the doors at Treehouse Muzique and the music there is selling well, and the community area is open and underway.
Noteworthy Muzique from January 2007:
- Son of a dragon - Liquid People
- Tunnel (Fragmentorchestra Remix) - The Dining Rooms
- In-ten-city - Soul Central
- Highlights (Charles Webster Remix) - Delugi
- Untitled - Black Joy
- Moustache (Prins Thomas DiskoMixs) - Black Joy
- Space For Lovers (Rulers Of the Deep Remix) - The Timewriter
- Felicidade (Buscemi mix) - Suba
- Church Lady - Dennis Ferrer
- Fingerpaint - Digital Witchcraft
Everything feels right to me. I am in a good head space, and have a calm head, and a deep heart. I slammed into this year with hope, and a new kind of rawness which I’m not accustomed to. Being myself, being honest with myself, and putting one foot in front of the other. It’s already been such an interesting and inspiring year, and it’s only February. I thank the collective stars, and offer myself to them all.
I hope you’re moved and motivated. Allonz Y!

Thanks for the music recommendations. I snapped up a few of those, in addition to your new tracks the other day. “It’s all in my head,” is especially full and wonderfully produced.

I’m going somewhere this summer with the credit I earned over the winter with American. I’m thinking a solo trip to Tibet sounds like the ticket. I want to check out the side of the world badly.
Welcoming love into my heart, so well put by you on the day i experienced the joy of discovering it still right in there, i’m ready to go on with this new year too.
