Sunday Soul: EMOTIONAL: February 15th 2009

Well I’m hot blooded, check it and see. I got a fever of a hundred and three. Come on baby, do you do more than dance? I’m hot blooded, I’m hot blooded. Awww…

Paleocircuits Experience:

At 10pm in San Francisco (which is 1 am in Manhattan, and a sleepy 6 am in London) you can head over to 90hz.org and click the big play button.
For a little bit more of a sophisticated listening experience you can grab the 90hz IP address and drop it into iTunes, or WinAmp or WMP or however you listen to inter-web audio and rock it like that.

Easy.

Theoretical Cognitive Association:

We get together in the chat at 90hz. We are a tight group of friends, we talk seriously, and freely. It’s nice if you’re up for that. It might be weird if you’re not.
To join in the dialog, sign up for the 90hz forum and then click the “chat” link from anywhere on 90hz.org and come on in.

From The Heart:

Sign up for the 90hz.org mailing list. We never ever share our email list with a single solitary soul. You opt in, and you opt out. It’s up to you completely.

  3. Last night’s transmission was a lot of fun. The theme was EMOTIONAL, and this was number three in a five part exploration of states of being. We began with visceral, last week’s was physical, the next two will be cerebral and spiritual, respectively. I spent some of this past week reading up about the limbic system, and the human emotional response. I also spent some time thinking about how my music is a kind of a challenge for people. House, as I understand it, is not something which is easy, or ready-made for everyone. We operate under so few premises that apart from the first, you came to dance, and the second, that I am trustworthy, absolutely anything goes. Still, house music asks you to be present, to dance, to trust, to let go, to move, to be capable of opening up in a way which allows us all to enter into a physical, visceral, and an emotional exchange. This unforgable, living, and powerful experience is hands down what I love most about house music, why I have dedicated my life to it, and what makes me most grateful for the experience.

So while you might have expected me to haul off and do one of my down tempo sad shows on a night like this, on the contrary, I tried to sift through my heart’s many colors and express myself with you in a way which opens doors, provokes a mosaic of emotion, and extends a hand to something more than what either any of us expected, or could produce on our own. My personal contribution to the mosaic this week was a brand new re edit of Foreigner’s ‘Hot Blooded” which was the quote for this week’s broadcast. I had so much fun re syncopating this horrible song from my childhood, and making it’s introduction into the set a complete surprise. What fun!

The chat was wide awake, and flowing with new faces, beloved friends, and community. The subject didn’t appear to be on topic, rather it seemed like folks were really celebrating music, and dj’s they love, attendance was excellent, and we really got something together. At one point Courtney K was blatantly missing, and so I undertook the microphone and attempted to wake her up because we all missed her. I felt so silly afterward, so I put it out there that I was also available for birthday announcements, ladie’s choice dances, and last call. I love that in the last few weeks my frends and family have truly come out of the wood work for me. At a time where traditionally I might be turning inward, closing up, and turning away from the world, I actually feel stronger, grounded, beloved, and free. Thank you. Oh thank you so truly and deeply. From the bottom of my heart.
