Spring is here. I find myself full of ideas and the whirling gyroscope of my heart is only held in my dreams, and in the refreshing chill of sudden showers. The clouds are alive, and the wind is whispering to me sweetly. I can’t explain the way I feel. I have no excuse for the things I do. In a world where happiness is pointing a camera at the orange a stranger squashed in the crosswalk, and the beauty of everything fills me with love and makes me contemplate moving far away… How can we be done with this town when we don’t yet know what’s just around the corner. Having spent the last few years ripping my way out of enormous paper mache masks and gaudy lead armour meant to swallow me up just before mardi gras, slipping thoughtlessly off the edge of the pier and laughing sweetly as I drown. I find myself in a world where friendship has been redefined, love is everywhere, wild and wise, trivialized, and deeply personal. Heady as ever, but more honest, more true, more delightfully in bloom. Break my heart darling… I want it to hurt… so I know that I’m alive. Break my heart wildly without mercy.

Last night’s broadcast was intense for me. I meant to express the idea that to break your heart wildly is to be present, to let go, to be alive and vital. Some of the folks who read the verse in my posts about the program wrote before the show and asked questions. “Why would you want to break my heart?” and “What’s wrong?” A couple of people even wrote to muse with me because they completely understood what I was getting at… that to be alive, to feel pain, to weep, to sing, to dance, to anything at all is joyous, and beautiful.
I expected to express a little more sweetness and light than I feel I did in the end. I suppose it’s always nice to be surprised, and catharsis is always welcome. The EST broadcast brought out a fantastic conversation in the chat about “good” and “bad” as general concepts. the threads of this dialog were at times so interesting and so sincere that I forgot I was mixing and found myself hanging on the dialog for the next entry. It’s a beautiful thing to find community from all corners of the country, talking things over, working things out, and being together. Beautiful.
