Sunday Soul: 1,000 Blessings: August 17th 2008

Jon Lemmon has had to call off tonight’s previously scheduled transmission of VIVA. He’s suffering from horrible lower back pain, and while he would have loved to join us, he just can’t. Heaven knows there’s nothing worse than lower back pain… so we’re sending him love, and healing energy…
1,000 Blessings.

See you tonight!

Last night’s transmission was an exciting one. Originally the program was scheduled as VIVA featuring a guest DJ, Jon Lemon from Viva Recordings. We were going to spin 3 for 3 all night and we were both very excited about it. On sunday afternoon Jon called an told me that he’d seriously injured his back and he could neither stand nor sit and was in terrible pain. Poor man. There’s nothing worse than back pain.

That left me with a couple hours to do a little triage. So I quickly redesigned the flyer, and took another look at the music I was hoping to play. The studio was already set up for vinyl, CD’s and digital, so I went with it and played records, CD’s as well as digital files. It felt wild, and out of control. I loved it.

The community was packed with friends and family getting together which always makes me happy, but I never looked at the unique connections so I have no idea if we broke records, or had a specially good turn out. That felt good too.

I just took the love and calm I felt from this past weekend, the deep and loving gratitude I feel for you and tried to swirl it around into a series of prayers, mantras, swirling emotions, and just let it come flying out into space where these precious things belong.

I wanted to say thank you to Kyle (Intellectual Whore) for turning me on to a very special track from tonight’s broadcast, and to David Bumstead and the Disco Not Disco group for challenging me and introducing me to some very surprising music which has infected my thinking in terms of what dance music is.

These are inspirational times. I needed your help this week, and you were there for me. I was stunned, and moved. I am so grateful. These are inspirational times for music. It’s coming from all directions right now, anything goes. I’ve never felt the sand in my toes quite like this, and I couldn’t love you more… I couldn’t express my devotion and my gratitude more completely through Sunday Soul than I am right now.

    Thank you.

    I’ll see you next week.

    Love,
    Sunshine
