Thank you Sharon. Yes, indeed... with a heavy sigh I admit that I may be wise and a lot of other things too, but one thing I'm not is ready. But I'm gettin' there.

Wow... I found your photos on Flickr, then came to this page, and Wow!!! You're a wonderful writer. This story is lovely... it gives me hope.

I especially like your reply... "If you mean that they began to walk beside one another, to know one another, to share the radiant emotions, thoughts, ideas, complaints, beliefs, wishes, dreams, hopes, desires and build true friendship, and a durable love which extends beyond age, beauty, and self... then yes, yes of course they lived happily ever after. "

Good answer! And I hope the lucky lady finds you. You know, they (the all-knowing they) say that she will find you when you're ready. The universe will plunk her down right in front of you. You just need to "see" her. Keep your eyes open. :)

I think, where love is concerned, that we can convince ourselves of anything.

That said, yes, love walks in and lights up our lives. We see sea-beams and fireflies, we feel love in a moment, and we know.

But we can convince ourselves of anything. We can talk our way into love, and out of love in the blink of an eye. We imagine that love is contained, or can be manipulated. Love simply is, always. We recognize it, and welcome it into our lives, radiating it in all directions with joy and tears, or we don't.

You can not contain love. If you try, it dies.

As for the lovers, I left them walking on a path toward the water. Did they live happily ever after? If you mean that they reached the water and embraced, never needing to speak, or reaffirm anything, kissing, and wrapped in a glorious love which lasted forever and ever... then my guess is no. they did not live happily ever after.

However, these two are of rare character. To glimpse such an unfolding, the surfacing of such secret thoughts, and harbored dreams which are incongruous to their family, their stations, their roles in life, and the very fabric of their existence and it's mind set previously is unimaginable. Most unlikely. Yet, I dream... and I believe. One day... someone will.

For now, it is a delight to search these hopes and dreams and catch sight of the women each morning as they walk to the river.

do you think it is possible for your "soul" or heart, etc; to 'recognize" another soul?
Just a gentle, or not so gentle, coming together of souls?
It seems that Sumir and Shikha "met" before they met? or perhaps recognized something in one another?
There is an automatic urge to add the sentence "and they lived happily ever after" to the end of the story...
I have always been obssessed with happy endings. Would it make their "meeting" less valid if they did not ride off into the sunset together?

Sorry if I come across a bit muddled, I guess many of these questions are rhetorical.....:)
