New album complete!

It’s official, my new album Seven Tracks in Seven Days is done. Yes, I mixed two versions tonight, and both will be sent off to King Street in the morning.

Version one: Unmixed. There’s an intro for the album, but then, following the liner notes, the songs play completely as tracks, and are described in detail in the booklet. A DJ could buy this CD and rip the tracks and play them out as singles.
Version two:Mixed. This version is not in chronological order, rather, it’s mixed together for a pleasant listening experience. While possibly more accessible, it loses a little something. I love the stark nature of a long intro and out, but this is more of a put it in and listen to the mix. Possibly more of what music lovers buy CD’s for in the first place.

Which version will it be? I’d love to know which type of cd you prefer when selecting house music on compact disc. Regardless, both choices are complete, and all I have left to do is get a final decision on which version we’ll use so i can get the liner notes straight.

Feels good.

    well

if i was going to put the songs on my ipod, i’m guessing it’d be better to have the unmixed. also a nice way to see how the songs stand on their own, y’know. so i’d be sitting on the side of the fence with the unmixed.

    but that’s just me.

    Congratulations Sunshine
i would prefer unmixed but then again I always liked the way dubtribe’s albums were blended into a continious mix too and i prefer to buy vinyl for individual tracks.

    Well…

    I spoke too soon.

I guess I completed the album as I imagined it. So what I set out to do is now done, but it’s looking like something more was expected.

So I get on with it and add dubs and a soul mix of ‘We are free’

Still, I really love the idea of an intro with the original 7 tracks, unmixed and extensive liner notes about each song. But I understand, and agree, that people want a listening experience to click into the cd player and have a micro celebration with.

    Got it… ok.

    More to do.

    : )

Either version of a CD is cool here. I do like unmixed CDs a little more, though.
    Congrats!
