Wars, violence, domestic disputes, disagreements... I think it all comes down to miscommunication, or more often, lack of communication. And occasionally, as Dr. King intimated, one's unwillingness to negotiate. If you figure we are all more alike than we are different, I can't believe that we can't all find a common ground somewhere and move on from there. But I also believe that certain people, particularly those in power, not just in this country, for whatever reasons make it more difficult to do so.

As for love, I feel we're meant to find our mate(s) and that it's our destiny to learn how to live with and help each other. I think one is meant to compliment the other. One has something that the other one is lacking. And I don't feel this is an obligation to be shirked. It's not a choice. You have to.

Thanks for posting this letter. Do you know what the clergymen's response was?

One of the things that made MLK great, besides his correct moral imperitatve, is how he communicated so clearly and passionately. It's been said (and I agree) that the only real way to motivate change in others is when you can touch their emotions. Under every great change, there is an emotional trigger that hits home.

Have you thought about creating something that utilizes your gift for writing/music/art that can convey your convictions? You know how to get at the core of people through art. You have such a strong connection to the emotional realm, combined with creative talent, and the fire to make it happen..if you were into it. You could tie a project directly into the King organization (or something else) and have a giving fund built in. Imagine, a year from now, having completed it before MLK day.

There are many others who would be inspired (or reinspired) by what you have to say. Moreover, a lot of them would love to help you spread the word. There are MANY people who feel similarly to you, that eyes glaze over when they're talking. They need a vehicle for communicating too. We all need to hear the message again and again.

This idea may not speak to you, but it's so easy to see that you're the best person to create something amazing.
