Juxtaposition

I am definitely home. Despite the silence around here, ie: the gaping hole in me where my little boy has been playing and singing and laughing in the flesh for the last weeks, I woke up at the crack of dawn anyway and got right to work.

I secured and arranged a relationship with a new booking agent today. Sarah from The Viva Agency is now my official agent. It also looks like I may have secured a liason for my digital label aspirations. Getting the imperial DUB titles, and Dubtribe Sound System back catalog re released digitally on iTunes, Beatport, DanceTracks and the other shops in DJ Friendly formats as well as launching Treehouse Muzique officially as a digital label are all in the works. The back burner includes a vinyl release of titles like my ‘Rock the Box ep‘ and a series of re edits I’ve been doing lately based on Nu Groove and Prelude records. Definitely not for digital consumption. I managed to connect with King Street today and determine that ‘Seven Tracks in Seven Days’ has been delayed again, this time only an extra three weeks, but it looks like the release parties are all still on, and promos will be here soon. Good news, the album will also be on vinyl, so wah-hoo for you.

I’ve been in the studio working on re edits and remixes of classic King Street acapellas and blending them with afrobeat and broken beat rhythms, creating a vocal/drumscape which I’ll add electro house music to, and add some vocals of my own to build my edition of Mix The Vibe. Sunday Soul listeners will be able to catch a preview of this coming up in a few weeks.

I’m headed to Washington DC this weekend to play all night at club five. Just me, my music, and a mic. I’m not super excited about getting on another airplane, but I am really looking forward to a great jam, so if anyone in or around DC wants to get together for dinner, or breakfast before and after the show, let me know and let’s get together.

Loads of bookings, and all kinds of action around here. It’s not the first and I’ve almost got the rent together. Feeling good about myself, and pleased to see that I really did leave a lot more behind in the waves of that beautiful Mexican beach than just some San Francisco funk, and a little bit of stress. I feel present, and wide awake. Music is streaming through my head, and I am strangely detatched, and calm. I’ve had a couple satisfying meditations without the customary ghosts leaving me in tears, and I feel optimism and liberation surging through my veigns.

Is it just me, or did something really give way a few weeks back? I hope it’s everyone, but whatever it is, it sure feels good.

c’mon!

It’s a long running, dress to sweat, househead church style, weekly Sunday night event in DC. It used to be at this place around the corner from Five called Red (that closed and is now another lame posh hiphop place), and has moved across the street to Dragonfly. It’s where the dancers play, DC Style, basically.

I see. I guess I just didn’t understand your vernacular.

I won’t be in town then, I fly out in the morning… home in time for Sunday Soul. But I hope to see you on your last night as a Bachelor! Woot!

I used to go to Red on ocassion. Really great vibe there. Major househead zone. Too bad Red closd down. If the party at Dragonfly is anywhere as good as Red, it will be a blast !! Interesting choice of evenings though…..Sundays. I would expect them to draw a bigger crowd on either Fridays or Saturdays.

Either way……see you on the dancefloor at FIVE on Saturday night sunshine. Hopefully I will get the chance to come by and say hi !
