I’ll keep you in mind for future projects.

Well, it had to happen someday, and that day is today.

I was informed by email that there would be no mixinghouse this month, but that i would be kept in mind for future events. The mixinghouse is a monthly party where i’ve been the headline dj for the last few months. It’s a groovy little location, new and unbroken in. The vibe has been getting there, but slowly.

I replied admitting that i didn’t quite understand. Was there going to be a Mixinghouse in January, or were they over?

The response was essentially: All the people there last time came to see the opening dj and not you, i’ll keep you in mind for future projects.

My thoughts were doubtful. I know there were at least 50 of the 110 people there that i know personally. In fact i came away from that party feeling like we might be on to something…

But i didn’t argue. I didn’t explain, or try to negotiate.

When someone tells you that you just don’t have the juice, you bow slightly, and demure. To argue is my first impulse. But i know from experience that protestations in the face of termination either end in tears and humiliation, or bitter resentments which don’t soon fade, and are widly discussed.

So i accept my fate.

Now i need to find another local regular.

    sunshine,

the way i see it is that you’ve just came back
from a successful trip (DJ ! tour that is) to Japan.

from that trip i can see that you were enlightened,
(your “do it for the fat lady” story) and that you
were treated with the honor and respect you deserve
when your laying it out on the line playing records or
singing during your set (truly amazing).

i have a feeling that not all is being said here in this
situation but i admire your response,a true sign of the
    wise.

Now, it is time to find another monthly.

    love gino.

    that’s crap. and by email.
    sometimes i hate email, it’s such a cop-out.
anyway, sorry to hear about it, but don’t take it personally,
you are a terrific DJ but what’s more, you have taste.
that’s probably what the problem is.
    :(
