I didn’t know that “I’m not trying to lead you on…” meant Dude, it’s all in your head. I’m not doing anything to encourage you. You are tripping.
I didn’t understand that “I don’t know what to tell you” meant I’ve told you all I can or will, and now you’re on your own.
But now I do, and man, do I ever feel stupid. I feel suckered, played the patsy, used, and deeply disrespected.
