Gums on fire

el-dente.jpg

I noticed the swelling begin while I was in Mexico with my son, and redoubled my brushing and flossing efforts. But on my trip to DC the security people took my toothpase away and I was relegated to brushing with water and flossing because I just didn’t make it to the market for replacement toothpaste. Lame, I know. And this is the result.

As if my mouth didn’t already cause me enough trouble, I woke up this morning at about 6 am in pure agony. My face was swollen up, and my gums felt like I’d been swishing boric acid around in my mouth all night. Another infection, and other emergency trip to the dentist for a draining, and a good scolding.

My mouth… I tell you. Nothing but trouble.

So I’m hastily dressing and running off to my dentist’s office to spend money I don’t have getting my mouth sorted out. The pain is unbelievable, and this is truly an emergency.

Relief, soon come.

If anyone has had dental issues, it’s me. I feel ya. Hope it is not serious.

dental pain is right up there at the top! Let me know if you need anything. That Vegan Shepard’s Pie I made you is in the freezer and it’s soft and easy to chew when heated. I’ll run it over if you want.

I’m back from the evil dentist in a lot more pain than I was when I left here. Drooling all over myself, throbbing, and can’t think straight. Awful.

My dentist was pretty nice actually, he could see the pain I’m in and spared me the lecutre. Basic fact is that I need gum surgury, and can’t afford it. The longer I wait, the more likely that I’ll need to have a few teeth removed. Quadruple Bummer.

One thing I find deeply frustrating is that I believe that my stress level is fairly high naturally, and I grind my teeth at night pretty seriously. I sincerely believe that my vigorous grinding causes the teeth to move back and forth, and the gums to become irritated, and this is a huge part of this problem.

I explain this every time and he smiles at me, and says I need gum surgery. This may be true, and this flossing, rinsing, brushing, and immaculate mouth hygene may indeed be a losing battle, but I also think a night guard would be a serious benefit to my cause. The cause of keeping my teeth.

I’m alreadt on anti-biotics, and mega blast motrin, but they aren’t kicking in quite yet. There’s no possible way I’m going to chew anything, so it’s smoothies for dinner, and all the sleep I can steal between pulses of pain in my face.

Now I’m laying down, just trying to relax.

Ouchie!!!!!!!!!! I hate that for you. :(

I was gonna make a joke about spraying yourself with gasoline before you get to the dentist, as it is a very good distraction.

I hope you can work the surgery out, because you don’t want to loose any teeth.

definitely a mouth guard should be helpful.

I hope you get some sleep.

Awwww, No. I am sending you lots of love. I’m so sorry, my dear brother.

Sadly, you really got Mom’s teeth.

    I feel ya.

Are you interested in herbal remedies? White oak bark tincture would be a good place to start.

I’m feeling so much better a couple days later it’s a miracle.

antibiotics and a regime of advil have already begun to reverse the infection, and reduce the swelling compltely.

A little pain from the emergency routing, and several shots in sensitive parts of my mouth, but otherwise I am repaired and back at it.

    Wheeew…
