I’m not a fan of “the holidays,” never have been. Maybe I’m too selfish to really appreciate the gatherings, and to get into the joy of others on specific days assigned by our government. Maybe they just get moved around and exploited so deeply that I have trouble finding enough meaning in the moments to really appreciate what they’re supposed to be. I don’t know. But I am thankful. And I go, child in tow, on the long drive to Grandmother’s house to eat at 3 pm, and then watch my sister fall asleep on the couch.

In the spirit of being thankful, and not morose (my native state of being)

here are a few things for which I am truly grateful:

1. Sobriety
2. Health
3. My Son
4. House Music
5. the TR-909
6. the TB-303
7. Mr. Fingers
8. True Friends
9. True Love
10. Peace in my heart, if not in the world
11. Potential
12. Change
13. Hope
14. that Laura survived her scooter accident
15. 16 years of Dubtribe Sound System
17. Silas O Payne
18. The sound of waves crashing on the beach
19. Indian Summer
20. Ferdinando Innocenti’s work at Lambretta It.

Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t eat too much pie!
