My mouth is swollen, and my face hurts. Haven’t slept much in the last couple days. I let my dental hygene go for a little too long
I’m a really good brusher, but a terrible flosser, and I’m definitely too cheap to shell out the big bucks for mouth wash
and now I’ve got some fiercely swollen gums on my lower left side
the side I mercilessly grind all night, every night.
Emergency services are required. I’m going to the dentist in a few minutes to get the gums ultrasonically cleaned, and the teeth x-rayed
See? Shoulda layed out the cash for the mouthwash and/or dental rinse baby.
Too much pain to think…
I hate the dentist, but man am I looking forward to this not hurting any more. Strap me in baby, drill me up, and yank ‘em out… don’t care.
Allonz Y!

Man I feel your pain. I too am not the best flosser. A couple of months ago I had to have my bottom wisdom teeth removed along with another tooth that had been decayed since I was 8. (They wanted to do a root canal at the time rather than pull it, and my mom said no.). I did not feel my wisdom teeth coming in, but boy when they got cavities it hurt like hell! I was the biggest chicken going in there to have them pulled too, and it was a piece of cake! I don’t hate the dentist so much anymore.
Well, I survived…
The periodontal pocket on my left, lower molar was too deep to save. There’s no point in surgery or making any real effort to fill the hole, or save the tooth.
They lanced the abscess (eew) and drained me and cleaned it all up. It feels MUCH better now. So from here I go to the surgeon and have the tooth removed.
Dr. Montalvo and I discussed the possibility of having a titanium posted replacement tooth put in at a later date (like when I have a ready Four grand to elect to do something like that.)
It’s really nice not to be in so much pain.
We will make sure you come and see Ang on your next visit here, itys much better visiting the hygienist every 6 months rather than a serious vsit to dentist every 4 years.
While I can relate that its never a pleasure to see the dentist it usually feels better when its over.
I had my impacted wisdom teeth pulled in May. It was horrible and I do miss my extra teeth. But I guess the dentist knows best and they needed to go.
Now I’m dealing with a broken tooth I know is going to need a root canal. Ugh!
I just keep telling my self I’ll feel better in the end
Maybe you should call this post Dental 101;)
p.s.
I’m glad you are feeling better Sunshine
from a preventitive point of view. try some interdental brushes. you will love ‘em. flossing sucks i know, but these little guys might just save you losing more of those precious teeth in the future. i will put some in the post. have you asked your dentist about bone regeneration. costly intially, but afterwards with some dedicated maintenance with the likes of me, you can save yourself a few bucks and implants. I could get you some good rates here if you want a different aussie experience!
Ang, I went looking at interdental brushes and really couldn’t find anything which was meant to brush between my teeth. I’m not exactly sure what you mean…
got a web link?
curiouser and curiouser. i, too, was at the dentist that day. after way too many shots of novicane (i sort of lost count after the 7th injection) and after far too long of sitting in that god awful dentist chair my mouth now has 3 filled cavities. and i have to go back in again this thursday to get one more filled. um, yay.
