JoeB and Demian picked me up at the airport. I walked through the exit area at JFK and found wonderful JoeB towering more than a foot above the little men in black coats with their modest signs which said things like “Mr. Wilson” and “Corporate Function” holding a huge red sign which had a photograph of me on it and my name spelled out in massive letters. When I caught sight of him I started laughing, and he started jumping up and down screaming like my biggest fan.
Far and away my finest welcome to New York City.
We drove through the highways of Queens, and over the Brooklyn Bridge listening to some of the finest house music I’ve heard in a long time. Damian is a producer too, and he brought the tunes. We checked into my hotel, and then hustled to the club. Michael, Deana, Ray Ray, Onionz, Jason, Lynda, Yyvette, and everyone was there. A room full of friends. Amazing.
Onionz was bumpin’ and taking it into places I wasn’t prepared for, so I let it ride, until I felt we were in it together, and began singing new material like “Sarah, the sky is full of stars,” “Love Majik,” and “The absurdity of possession.” It felt good. The sound in the Sullivan Room is amazing.
The crowd is heroic, if you ask me, because they didn’t matriculate, they stayed with me. I know that it’s a challenge to survive the move from 128 bpm jams down deep to my 116 balearica, especially with nothing familiar to hang on to. It’s a new world, and house music is alive, and opening its heart even wider.
Viva New York City, and thank you for a wonderful night.

Friday night was a blast ! This was my first time at Sullivan Room in NYC. Wow ! What a great place…..excellent sound system and a great vibe in the club. Had more of an “underground” feel to it than other clubs I have been to. Loved your set Sunshine and am glad that I finally got to say hello to you. See you next time in DC !

i felt completely enveloped and caressed on that dancefloor. beautiful music on an incredible soundsystem. no idea what was happening in the back part of the club, but the groovers around me were definitely paying attention, reciprocating sunshine’s intention. just lovely.

i think one of my favorite moments was when sunshine brought in a track with a female vocal. i think the name of the song is “devotion”. but right when she started singing i looked in front of me and lynda was grooving with this smile on her face that i knew was the same smile on my face. : )
